Hearing-Impaired Moment #3

I was talking with a friend of my son's who knows I'm HI, and I must have gotten that blank stare of I have no idea what you just said, when I "heard" him say "Why don't you have earrings in"? Looking a bit puzzled, I reached for my ears and replied "I don't know, I usually do". Of course he immediately started laughing hysterically and repeated what he said "Why don't you have your hearing aids in"?

I wish I kept track of some of the misunderstandings! My kids think it's hilarious.

I also have snhl, tinnitus and hyperacusis, most likely due to genetics (thanks, dad!). I'll be going to the ENT next week to see what the damage is this time - your recommendations for cool hearing aids?

OH, wow. Just saw this. I have Phonak Excelias, and have had them for maybe 4 years? They're good, but, as always, not as good as the mfgr claims they are. Thinking about the speaker-in-the-ear-canal type next time. What did you get?
